Julia Dutta,

It was good to read and see photographs of the places seen last in 1959-60. It was refreshing.

Regards.God bless.

Hi Julia,
Hey, this one was an eye-opener. The portuguese went all the way across the country from Goa to Bengal?
That was well-researched and presented...

cheers,

Keshav

Julia,

Is the following peace based on some Mugal court records ? As far as I know elaborate records were kept of Jahangir's court and he also wrote an autobiography Tuzak-e-Jahangiri ? Or this is based on the account of Father da Cruz and his followers.

"However, the execution which was a great Darbar failed as the animals set upon the Christians pacified with their prayers and instead carried Father da Cruz on the back of the biggest elephant and took him to the Emporor and bowed before him "

Regards

What a story! I never knew this one.
it is hard to believe but things must have happened otherwise the stone-hearted jahangir would not be mellowed.I must see this church

Rakhee,

How lovely to see you here! Oh do please give your boss my blog and if he wishes to visit he must to Goa and Bandel too but the Portuguese cultural remains show in Goa more than in Bandel. In fact I was a little disappointed as I was heading towards the Church, I expected to see those very uniquely designed houses around the Parish. Alas! The Bengali culture did not permit that to happen. To me it seemed more Bengali-ish till you came to the Church.
